Lawyers Fund Drive

We need to your law firm to join a critical effort that helps ensure that the poor members of our society have access to the critical legal assistance they need for civil matters. The Boston area legal community has been doing this for over 110 years by providing significant financial support to Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS). GBLS helps low-income people move out of poverty, secure protection from abuse, and avoid homelessness. 

Unfortunately, at a time of major increase in demand for assistance, GBLS is facing a significant fiscal challenge that is severely limiting its ability to respond. GBLS lost more than $3.7 million in annual funding from the Interest on Lawyers Trust Account (IOLTA) program caused by the plunge in interest rates and the economic recession.  GBLS had to eliminate 21 advocate positions and facing similar losses.  Your firm’s financial contribution is needed to ensure that in this time of great need for poor people, GBLS is able to assist as many individuals and families as possible. 

Every additional $75,000 raised by the Lawyers Fund Drive preserves the position of an advocate who will assist more than 110 individuals and families. 

Please join the more than 85 law firms and corporate legal departments in supporting GBLS.  We hope that your firm would consider giving at the leadership level of giving is $700 per attorney at the firm.
